WHO IS BFT PAC?
Meet Marc Moran,
BFT PAC Founder

Innovator & Leader
Mark Moran is a licensed attorney, former Wall Street investment banker, media entrepreneur, and national-level innovator in strategic communications. Described by Business Insider as "tall, strawberry blond, with a chiseled jawline and high-octane personality," and by The Wall Street Journal as “a provocative personality on social media, commenting on finance, politics, and culture," the 34-year-old views attention as a currency and understands the power it holds.
Native of Northern Virginia, Raised in a Military Family
A native of McLean, Virginia, Mark was born at the U.S. Naval Academy and grew up in a military family. At the College of William & Mary, he was an Alvin P. Anderson Scholar, Captain of the NCAA Division I Track and Field Team, and studied finance and sociology. When the university cut seven varsity sports in 2020, he led the successful campaign to reinstate them - uncovering budget fraud in the process and leveraging the power of narrative through local and national outlets such as the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Washington Post, and Sports Illustrated to defend Olympic sports, proving his ability to take on entrenched systems and win.
Attorney & Investment Banker Educated in Virginia
After graduating, Mark earned a joint JD and MBA from the University of Virginia. He began his career as an investment banker at Lazard and later Centerview Partners, advising on more than $75 billion in M&A transactions, predominantly in healthcare. This combination of legal and financial expertise shaped his distinctive approach: complex problem-solving, high-stakes negotiation, and the ability to move large institutions toward transformative outcomes.
Defender of the Common People
While working in finance, Mark emerged as one of the most prominent national voices advocating for junior bankers. He spotlighted brutal working conditions, called for reforms to the 100-hour workweek culture, and successfully pushed for changes such as increased meal stipends. His advocacy was widely covered in outlets like the New York Post, Bloomberg, and Business Insider, positioning him as an insider who could challenge the excesses of the industry while still understanding its mechanics.
Champion of the Attention Economy
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mark appeared on the first season of an HBO Max reality series to study the attention economy firsthand. That experience led him to founding Equity Animal, an investor relations and strategic communications firm that redefined how public companies engage with the market. Within its first year, Mark and his team executed industry firsts, hosting the first earnings call of a publicly traded company on Twitter Spaces, (a model adopted by firms like Robinhood and Tesla), and launching the first retail-investor-focused roadshow. These innovations earned Equity Animal multiple nominations from IR Magazine, the leading industry trade publication.
Proven Ability to Challenge the Status Quo
Mark Moran's career has been defined by breaking through stagnant systems - whether in athletics, business, media, or capital markets; and replacing them with structures that are smarter, fairer, and built to last.
